How to Play

Play Castle Defender Saga online for free. Castle Defender Saga is a fantasy-based medieval castle defense game where you assemble a team of heroes, upgrade their skills, and send them into battle against waves of enemies. This game is rendered in mobile-friendly HTML5, so it offers cross-device gameplay. You can play it on mobile devices like Apple iPhones, Google Android powered cell phones from manufactures like Samsung, tablets like the iPad or Kindle Fire, laptops, and Windows-powered desktop computers. All game files are stored locally in your web browser cache. This game works in Apple Safari, Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Opera and other modern web browsers.

Starting the Game

Press the red PLAY button in the center of the welcome screen to start the game.

    - Use your mouse left click button to send heroes into combat and to purchase upgrades in between waves.

      - Controls & indicators
        
        In the upper left corner the game shows your skill points, coin savings, and diamonds which can be spent on hero promotion.
        
        I the top center there are 3 bars for your castle defense health (or HP), your mana (or MP), and how far into the current wave you are. When you near the end of a wave with a boss in it the wave progress bar becomes a boss health bar.
        
        In the upper right corner there are buttons to adjust game speed, restart the current wave, or pause the game.
        
        The lower left corner has the button where you can spend skill points on upgrades.
        
        The lower right corner has buttons for restarting the most recently played save and for fighting the next wave.
        
        During battle each of your heroes atop the tower has a status bar indicating how charged their status is. When cooldown has completed their status bar is blue and you can send them into battle or activate their special attacks.
        
        While in battle each of your characters has a green health bar above it. Enemies have red health bars.
        
        After waves, right of the tower are buttons to upgrade the castle & town archers.
        
        You can select any of the heroes after waves to go into the units menu where you can promote them, increase their level, take them off of the tower, or add them on a tower position.
        
        Game Play
        
        Basics
        
        This is a medieval tower defense game where you fight through rounds of enemies & use the earned income and experience to improve your fighting skills & defenses.
        
        Waves
        
        In this game you fight wave after wave of enemy.
        
        If you lose a wave you still collect experience and income from the wave.
        
        At the end of each wave (win or lose) you can use your treasure to buy upgrades.
        
        Archers
        
        Archers remain behind the castle wall and automatically shoot arrows at a distance at any incoming enemies.
        
        Archers do not have magic powers, but can do damage to both ground and ariel enemies.
        
        Archers can be upgraded like other heroes.
        
        Castle
        
        If the castle health reaches zero you lose.
        
        Whenever you start a wave you start with full castle health and magic points.
        
        When you upgrade the castle it increases your hit points by 100 and your magic points by 5.
        
        Tower Heroes
        
        The tower at the front of the castle can hold up to 6 different heroes on it.
        
        You can choose which of any group of 6 from the following 8 options: swordsman, lancer, lightning mage, fire mage, ice mage, archer, bomber man, and summoner.
        
        Each hero has a different level and upgrade cost.
        
        You can rotate through which heroes you have active on the tower at any time.
        
        You can use diamonds to promote a hero when their level is at least 10 & can promote them a second time when their level is at least 20.
        
        Swordsmen can become knights or paladins. Knights increase unit damage and paladins increase unit health.
        
        Lancers can become hasted lancers or armored lancers. Hasten attack faster while armored have better defenses.
        
        Lightning mages can become lightning wizards or lightning sorcerers. Lightning wizards increase attack speed while lightning sorcerers increase mana.
        
        Fire mages can become fire wizards or fire sorcerers. Fire wizards increase auto attack damage while fire sorcerers increase active skill damage.
        
        Ice mages can become ice wizards or ice sorcerers. Ice izards decrease enemy attack speed while ice sorcerers decrease enemy boss attack speed.
        
        Archers can become hunters or rangers. Hunters increase the attack speed of town archers when the skill is activated. Rangers increase the attack speed of all heroes when the skill is activated.
        
        Bomber man can become rocket man or bazooka man. Both upgrade paths drop bombs from the sky. Rocket lowers enemy soldier defenses. Bazooka lowers enemy boss defenses.
        
        Summoners summons a golem periodically. Summoners can become Earth druid or elemental druid. The Earth druid increases castle health while the elemental druid increases castle defense.
        
        Class upgrades can be sold back off, though doing so costs you half of the diamonds used to make the upgrade.
        
        Skills
        
        As you progress through the game you earn skill points.
        
        An arrow near the star in the lower left corner of the game will flash yellow if you have skill points available to spend.
        
        Skill points can be used for any of the following:
        
        Bonus Coins – earn 2.5% more coins from battle
        
        Bonus Experience – earn 2.5% more experience points from battle
        
        Cooldown – cooldown in between recharges faster by 1%.
        
        Hero Damage – increase the damage your heroes do by 2.5%.
        
        Hero Attack Speed – have your heroes attack faster by 2%.
        
        Summons Health – increase the health of golem you summons. Each upgrade adds 2% to the health of all golems.
        
        Mana – increase your magic points by 2%.
        
        Castle Health – increase your defenses by 2%.
        
        Each of the above skills can be upgraded a maximum of 20 times each.
        
        Tips & strategies
        
        Try to get 6 heroes onto the tower early in the game so you have a variety of overlapping attacks to use.
        
        You can use any combination of heroes, however we generally recommend using an archer and a summoner as part of the mix.
        
        Summoners attack by sending in golems automatically. When summoners attack it does not use any of your mana. If you increase the golem health using skill points you can make it so you always have a golem in battle, with a new one being conjured before the old one has perished.
        
        Archers are great for attacking ariel enemies. If you go the hunter route & have leveled up the town folks then you can send a mass wave of powerful arrows.
        
        Upgrading the castle upgrades both your defenses and your mana. At some point if you ignore the castle upgrades you lose the ability to fight as you are waiting for your mana to recharge, since every attack type other than the summoner uses mana.
        
        Target Audience
        
        The game is suited for players who like defend the castle strategy games.
        
        The game has no adult themed content.
